I've long had a working relationship with Yuki Hayashi from Japan. His company Free The Tone make the most amazing sounding pedals and cables. I'll be doing a video very shortly detailing my new pedal board with some very cool new features.

Fylde Acoustic Guitar

This is an amazing guitar hand made by Fylde guitars in the UK and it is based on the Eric Bibb (who I've had the pleasure of performing with) signature guitar.

"Number Two"

(With Free The Tone's Yuki Hayashi doing a quick electronics repair job on it)

This is the first of 3 guitars Robert Gilmore made for me, the body was from an old guitar I've been using for the last ten years but Robert has updated it with a new neck with a wider nut width which is great for playing chords on:

43mm Nut width
Brazilian Rosewood Slab board on a Flame maple neck
6100 Fret wire
Bdy is Alder and 3 tone sunburst
Mojo Strat Pickups
Callaham Block
Callaham Bridge Plate
Raw Vintage Saddles
Raw Vintage Springs
Tropical Fish Capacitor
CTS Pots etc etc
strung with 11s

Black Guard Tele

This is one of my favourite guitars and I use this a lot at home for writing on and occasionally as a backup guitar live. I've used it a lot on the Desert Rock album/tour. The nut is slightly narrower at 41mm so its a great blues guitar.

it has a nice vintage curved radius and 6100 fret wire, also:

All Parts Maple Neck
MJT Body with nitro finish
Ash Body
4 way switch
Mojo Pickups Gold Foild in neck
Black Guard tele bridge pickup
string with 11s

Navigator Les Paul

This is a recent aquisition (made in Japan) and its about as close as I will get to a real 1958-60 Les Paul. Hard Maple which has been hand carved along with a great neck makes this guitar a current favourite of mine!

I asked Mojo Pickups to make me some great sounding 50s style PAFs which were 7.2 (neck) and 7.7 (bridge) values - they sound really transparent and dynamic.

Original 1960 Supro Sahara

This guitar is normally tuned to G for slide and again was used a lot in the recording of the Desert Rock album. It has a mellow tone but overdrives really well. Its a resoglass body so very light and comfortable to play. I'm pretty sure its a Brazilian Rosewood neck but I could be wrong.

Strung with 13s although sometimes 12s

"Owl Guitars" Coodercaster Guitar

This was built by a Peter Corp in the UK from parts I aquired. The original Supro pickup has been modified by Mojo Pickups as the one orignal magnet was fading away somewhat.

Specs are:

Flame Maple neck
Brazilian Rosewood board (43 mm nut width for slide use)
Nitro Ash body (1 piece)
Original Gold Foil Pickups (correct mid '60s type)
Original '50s Valco pickup with baseplate
Callaham Saddles with Gotoh block and plate
Im using my favourite cap I use in all my guitars - a tropical fish cap.
White knobs are from the Valco Lapsteel
Schaller Elite Pearl Tuners

N'goni

Whilst on my travels in the Sahara desert I discovered an instrument called a N'Goni - this is my 7 string N'goni which was made in Bamako, Mali

Pedal Board

This is my current pedal - its a board made by Free The Tone.

Pedals are:

Fulltone Wah
Fulltone Dejavibe
Free The Tone SOV-2
Free The Tone MS SOV Special
OX Fuzz (Thanks Olaf!)
Free The Tone Flight Time delay
Voodoo Labs Proctavia
Free The Tone ARC 53M switcher/loop

Amps

Mystic Blues "Sally"

This has been my main amp for a number of years now - very clean sounding amp and very difficult to play because the sound is so clean and immediate - just like a Dumble amp. Its a 50 watt 6L6 with an overdrive station.

I use these amps with a buffered effects loop (pictured in the rack below).

I use "Sally" with a Thiele Cabinet by Glaswerks which has a 1 x 12 Fane Studio 12L

Mystic Blue Star by Custom By Cougar

sitting on top of a real Dumble Overdrive Special amp is my Custom By Cougar Mystic Blues 100watt 6L6 amp.

I tend to use it with a 2x12 Celestion G12-65 cab (16ohm speakers)

Altec Lancing Series II 417H speaker -

Currently one of my favourite speakers that I'm using for my 'Clean tone' - lots of high end sparkle.
